It is that time of year again with plenty of indoor tournaments for you to choose to participate in. The tournaments can be practice, just for fun, or very serious including provincial level, national level and even worldwide competitions.
Nowadays there are three major types of tournaments to choose from including Target, Field and 3D. For a more detailed explanation of each major type, check out my new page describing these types of tournaments.
This weekend is the start of two provincial tournaments, the indoor Ontario Indoor Field Championship. There is little difference between indoor target archery and indoor field archery except for the target faces and scoring, however it provides a good level of competition, great practice and is a lot of fun to shoot.
Almost every weekend you can choose to shoot in a 3D tournament somewhere in the province of Ontario. Personally, I have shot a couple 3D tournaments both indoor and outdoor and found them a lot of fun. However, I have decided to limit the number of 3D tournaments, since I found it very hard on my target arrows and I want to focus on Target archery. I also love to participate in outdoor field archery tournaments since the changing background adds a new level of complexity and with marked distances it limits the guesswork for damaged or lost arrows.
