Canadians Finish One, Two at ParaPan American Games

Recently, Canadian teammates captured Gold and Silver at the recent Parapan American Games in Guadalajara,Mexico. Kevin Evans of Jaffary BC and Robert Hudson of Leoville, SK captured Gold and Silver respectively in the Men’s Open Compound Category.

The pair of Canadian’s first had to face a pair of Americans in Matthew Lee Stutzman and Lewis Dugan Denton in the semi-finals. Both of these strong shooters forced the matches to five ends where they finished at 6-4 in favor of the Canadians.

The finals also took five ends to decide, where two-time World Champion Kevin Evans out-duelled Robert Hudson to capture the Gold by a score of 7-3. In capturing the Gold, Kevin also secured an additional quota spot for the Canada men’s team in the Open Compound Category at the 2012 Paralympics Games.

Also participating at these Parapan American Games in the Women’s Recurve ARW2 Category was Lyne Tremblay of Magog, QC. While finishing 5th, she secured a quota spot for the Canadian women’s team at the upcoming 2012 Paralympic Games.

Congratulations to the entire 2011 Parapan American Team on their successful trip to Guadalajara, Mexico.
