Canadian is New World Champion

Congratulations to Canada’s Christopher Perkins who became World Champion today in Turin, Italy.  To start the day Chris faced former world champion Reo Wilde of the USA In the semi-finals.  In the qualification round, Reo Wilde set a new world record for individual with 714 and ranked number one entering the elimination round.  However after trailing by a single point in the first end, Chris came from behind to narrowly defeat Reo and advance to the Gold Medal match against Jesse Broadwater of the United States. This would be the first World Championship final for both competitors.

In the finals, Chris jumped into a lead 90-88 after three ends however Jesse was able to tie it up in the fourth. In the final round, the archers remained tied until the final arrow when Jesse shot a 9 and Chris shot a 10 to capture his first World Championship.

This medal will go well with the team bronze medal that Canada Compound team, comprised of Chris, Dietmar Trillus and Simon Rousseau, won earlier.

Congratulations to Team Canada on the team Bronze medal and a special congratulations to my Canada Winter Games teammate Christopher Perkins, nobody deserves it more and I am sure this  will be only the first of many more to come.
