Canada Winter Games Starts

The Canada Games are Canada’s largest multi-sport competition for young athletes held every two years, alternating between summer and winter. The 2011 Canada Winter Games started this week in Halifax. This year’s competition is held over two weeks and last night was the opening ceremonies, attended by Week one athletes.

Week one sports are Artistic Gymnastics, Biathlon, Women’s Curling, Men’s Hockey, Ringette, Target Shooting, Freestyle Skiing, Speed Skating (Long and Short), Squash and Wheelchair Basketball.

Next Saturday, Feb 19th, week two athletes will start arriving and all athletes will be able to attend a concert by Great Big Sea, the awesome folk-rock from Newfoundland and Labrador.

Week Two sports are Alpine Skiing, Badminton, Boxing, Cross Country Skiing, Men’s Curling, Figure Skating, Women’s Hockey, Judo, Snowboard, Synchronized Swimming, Table Tennis and of course Archery.

I am now listed on the Canada Winter Games website as one of the attending athletes representing Ontario. The archery competition starts during week two on Tuesday, Feb 22nd and you can watch each day of competition through Bell Aliant live web streaming here. Good luck to all the athletes!

  2. How proud we are of our Jordan. What a
role model. We couldn’t be happier. You really worked hard for this and truly deserve to win. We are a gracious competitor and appreciate your competition.
To borrow one of your own quotes Jordan
” I do the best I can and if someone else
shoots better, then they deserve to win “.

    Love ya. Grandma & Peter
